This 200,000 ft2 salt water aquarium opened in 1992 for the Columbo 500 exhibit in Genoa Italy. The building was constructed on the Genoa waterfront using a dry dock as a foundation.

Several of the unique MEP system features included the use of harbor water in lieu of a cooling tower, a low temperature chilled water system to serve the penguin exhibit, and both above and below water environments for the Mediterranean, rocky coast, and coral reef exhibits.
