1995 - 1998

Architects: Cesar Pelli & Associates, Inc.

We developed and implemented the mechanical and electrical portions of the Aquarium's Master Plan which included construction of a new Entry Promenade, a new Visitor's Service Facility, the Institute for Exploration, an outdoor Beluga Whale Exhibit; a new Aquatic Animal Study Center; renovation of the existing Aquarium and Marine Mammal Theatre; and upgrading the existing Seal Island infrastructure.

We were responsible for the design of the base building MEP services, as well as the animal life support systems.

The Institute for Exploration includes recreation of a deep water submarine dive experience. There are also multiple interactive audio-visual displays that allow the visitors to explore the underwater world.

The Arctic Coast Exhibit, which is the outdoor Beluga habitat, recreates a stretch of Alaska's coastline, and is the only exhibit of its kind which permits Beluga Whales to live in an outdoor environment simulating their natural habitat. The animal life support systems contribute not only to maintaining the health of the animals, but also is the human enjoyment of the exhibit, through maintenance of water clarity.
