Eleven Madison Park Restaurant
New York, NY

Mechanical and Electrical Engineers
Completion: 1999

Architects: Bentel and Bentel Architects

The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company commissioned architects Harvey Wiley Corbett in 1927. Construction was halted two years later after the Stock Market crash of 1929. Work on the building was resumed in the early 1940's and again halted by WWII. In the 1950's the last stage of the 30-floor structure was completed and occupied by MetLife. During the late 1990's a $200 million renovation program preceding MetLife's move to another location. The ground level was vacated and subsequently leased to restaurateur Danny Meyer. Architects Bentel & Bentel have recaptured the architecture and décor of the original architecture.

Located on the east side of Madison Square Park, this 11,500-square foot French style restaurant is reminiscent of the early 1900's. Total seating is for 220. Twenty-five foot high ceiling, twenty foot tall windows starting five feet above the floor, main dining floor raised 24 inches and the bar elevated by 18 inches recapture that era's grand scale design, affording diners on the main and mezzanine levels a view of historic Madison Square Park.

AltieriSeborWieber provided all new HVAC, electric, plumbing and fire protection systems for the space, coordinating with the base building architects and engineering team.
