This FDR historic structure library and museum will be renovated for better public access; visited by approximately 160,000 people in 1997.

The new 25,000 Ft2 visitor's center will be used for the development and presentation of educational programs that focus on the life and career of FDR, public community functions and fund raises.

Included in the Visitor's Center are a lecture hall, three multipurpose rooms, gathering spaces, and ancillary office and support space. There is an integrated effort to conceal the mechanical and electrical systems, so as emphasize the exposed architectural and structural features of the building.

Included in the FDR Library is the renovation of the north wing, to provide a flexible gallery for use or temporary exhibition space. This includes the provision of a climate control system, lighting and lighting control system, and a fire suppression sprinkler system.

Through the efforts of the entire design team, this project includes elements of sustainable design that will result in meeting the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) criteria for Certification.
