AltieriSeborWieber participated in the restoration and renaissance of this prominent New York City landmark beginning 1982. The existing facility includes 650,000 square feet of library space.

A new stacks facility constructed beneath Bryant Park added over 125,000 square feet of space to store additional 2.5 million volumes with expansion capacity to over 5.0 million volumes. All of the first phase consists of compact storage and is protected by environmental control systems including cool storage and gaseous phase filtration.

AltieriSeborWieber has completed a series of projects with a wide range of scope and varying design criteria. These include a changing exhibit gallery, restoration of the Library's entry and original light fixtures, modernization of the Library's main catalog room, a rare book exhibition space, and a multi-purpose space planned to house anything from an exhibition to cocktail parties.

This represents only a partial list. All this was accomplished while respecting the Library's unique architecture designed by the prominent firm of Carrere and Hastings.

Project scope has included critical temperature and humidity environmental controls, low temperature microfilm storage vaults, gaseous filtration systems, a pre-action cross zoned flow control head sprinkler system, security, and fire protection systems as well as a general upgrade of the Library's infrastructure.
