Completion Date: 1992

Architect: Venturi Scott Brown Associates Architects

This new 130,000 square foot Museum facility located in downtown Seattle provides closely controlled environments to protect an outstanding art collection. Formally housed in a remote area of the City, only 10% of all existing collection could be displayed at one time.

The museum is best known for its collection of Asian and Native American Art. The HVAC system was designed to meet the demands of the City of Seattle Energy Code, employing design features such as a heat recovery chiller used in conjunction with the humidity control system.

The Seattle Art Museum opened to the public in 1992.
