This new 28,000-ft2 facility provides a home for the college's collection as well as providing new galleries for its display. The project included a partial renovation of the Thompson and Van Ingen Libraries that adjoin the new art center. The building utilizes its own central heating and cooling plant allowing it to operate independently of the campus central plant which is operated on an energy conservation program inconsistent with collection preservation.
