AltieriSeborWieber provided engineering services for luxury single-family residences for over twenty years. Project sizes have ranged from 3,000 square feet to complexes of over 60,000 square feet. In many ways these projects are similar to institutional buildings. Dining rooms have a capacity to serve as many as sixty for a single reception or dinner party.
Many of the clients are collectors of fine art and antiques, demanding museum quality HVAC systems, but with concert hall acoustical performance.
This 12,000 square foot house in Dallas was designed for a collector of modern art. The systems are capable of maintaining the same levels of temperature and humidity as would be required for a major art museum. Systems operate 24/7 and automatically adjust from season to season.

A custom field-erected chiller was designed using residential refrigeration equipment components. There were two reasons for this; (1) so that it could be maintained and serviced by local residential service contractors and (2) to provide central system redundancy and diversity not normally available from residential equipment.
The air handling system is a commercial grade multi-zone unit with external reheat capability for automatic humidity control in both summer and winter. The kitchen is on an independent air handling system to prevent odors and airborne contaminants from attacking the owner's collection. A separate independent refrigeration system serves the owner's substantial wine cellar.
The house was provided with a fully automated emergency power system to allow the house to function during a power failure.
