Architect: Li-Saltzman Architects; Naomi Leff Architects; Designers and Interiors

Restoration of the Rheinlander Mansion at Madison Avenue and 72nd Street in Manhattan to the flagship store for Polo - Ralph Lauren. The project consisted of a "gut" renovation of the building, with new HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems installed to serve the 60,000 ft2 of retail and office environments. Each retail space within the building required a closely coordinated effort to integrate the mechanical and electrical systems into the architecture.

The photographs to the left represent before and after photographs of the same area. You can see one technique for maintaining high ceiling evident in this picture. Ducts were run vertically to the location, then horizontally along walls where they were coordinated with detailed millwork to conceal them. Supply air grilles were concealed above crown moldings.

New sprinkler piping was installed from above by removing sub-flooring in order to preserve original ornate plaster ceilings
