The recently opened Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performing Arts Center is the home of The Fort Worth Ballet, The Fort Worth Opera, Fort Worth Symphony, as well as serving as the permanent home of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
The overall building size is 154,000 ft2 including the principal auditorium with a seating capacity of 2,100.
The stage house is capable of supporting a range of performances from musical soloists to Broadway type musical productions.
A remote mechanical plant serves the Center. This was done to control the production of mechanical noise near the main performance spaces. The chiller plant included two electric centrifugal chillers at 375 tons and a separate 25-ton reciprocating chiller for periods when the auditorium is dark.
Gas fired low-pressure hot water boilers provide heating for the Center. They too are located remotely.
The air delivery systems were designed to achieve a maximum NC of 15. The air systems are also located remotely in a subterranian mechanical room beneath the plaza adjacent to the building.
The Center also was provided with an engineered smoke control system.
The building is fully sprinklered.
